Our History Allen Electric Supply Co. has been in operation since 1959. We operate a single-house distributorship out of Livonia, Michigan. Our clientele include industrial and commercial users, electrical contractors and original equipment manufacturers. Allen Electric is a family owned company. We have the privilege of counting among our associates knowledgeable people who have been with our company for many years. Each of our company’s associates knows and believes that his or her level of performance on the job affects customer satisfaction and, ultimately, the success of our company. We are truly proud and grateful that all the people who make up Allen Electric want to be part of a winning team. Our founder, Josef Horowitz (1915-1998) started the business in his garage. He moved the company into a 3,600 square foot building on Plymouth Road in 1960. As the business grew, the company relocated two blocks down the road to a new 13,400 square foot building in 1965. Subsequently, the company acquired the adjoining property and occupied an additional 4,800 square foot building thereon. Later, a high bay storage building was added behind that building. In 1997, the 4,800 square foot building was replaced with a new structure and other renovations were made. We now enjoy enhanced training facilities for our customers and employees, an improved counter service area, increased warehousing space for inventory and improved office space to support our staff. We occupy about 32,000 square feet in total. Over the years we have participated in a number of major construction, renovation and expansion projects in southeastern Michigan. Our involvement often includes lighting design services, value analysis and product selection services. We have worked with our manufacturer suppliers to develop custom solutions to specific customer needs. We interface with personnel at many levels including buyers, estimators and engineers at contracting firms as well as machine builders and project owners.
