Every Month Is Electrical Safety Month!
▲ Click An Image To Download ▲ Safety professionals estimate that nearly 600 people are killed each year in electrocutions that occur in the workplace or in house fires caused by faulty electrical systems. Thousands more are either burned or seriously injured in these incidents, which result in an estimated $2 billion in personal property damage. Loss of life under any circumstance is devastating, but matters are made worse when it's realized that most of these tragedies could have been prevented. Allen Electric Supply Co. and the National Association of Electrical Distributors, in conjunction with the Electrical Safety Foundation International, are proud to recognize the month of May as Electrical Safety Month. In observance, we are posting two free offerings through this Safety Zone page. Because we believe Electrical Safety is a daily concern, we are making the following publications available to you throughout the year. The first offering, Better Safe Than Sorry, provides electrical safety tips for the home and the workplace. Also included are reports on workplace electrocutions, first-aid tips, and a chart that tracks the human body's tolerance to electricity. Electrical Elementary, the second offering, is a collection of activity pages for pre-school through teen-aged children. Petey the Plug teaches your kids how to play it safe around electricity and challenges their intellect with several multiple-choice and trivia questions. Both items are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. If
you do not have Adobe Acrobat, here is a link for a free download:
We hope you find these teaching tools to be both useful and enjoyable.
